I couldn’t believe what I was hearing in the screenwriting class. I’d seen so many different movies that they couldn’t be a box. So I took a stopwatch to see The Fugitive and was shocked that the shape of the movie was EXACTLY the described box.

Hour TV dramas are a different shape. My spec script for a Forever Knight episode is online, though I admit I find script READING very difficult, while script WRITING is enormous fun.

I bet that it was easier, in the early days of T.V. when there was a commercial at the beginning of a show, one in the middle ( for a 1/2 hour show ) and one at the end. And when a play was presented ( all three major networks showed plays once a week ) they didn’t break for commercials, usually.
