I’ve used Areopress for years. I grind 36g of beans at setting 4. Any finer and it’s too hard to press. I hear water to 205 with a gooseneck kettle, pouring water over the funnel to clean it and cool the water slightly. After several minutes of stirring and adding more water, I fill the Areopress to the top, put on the pre-wet reused filter, flip it, and use the funnel to press into a jar. Then I pull pack the plunger, add more 205 degree water and let it drip through, with a final press. Removing the Areopress I put the jar on the scale and add enough water for 400g solution that can be refrigerated for a week.

I use 100g solution with 15g heavy cream or 30g h&h plus 250g hot water and often 7g coconut or MCT oil. This way I can get 4 replicable cups at a time.

After the TV show Monk, I can get 100 cups of coffee from a 2# bag of beans, each using 100g of solution. LOL

I'm with you on the 205 business. My years of BBQ rib competitions taught me the value of the boil/non-boil threshold.

I also have my own aeropress process down to the last detail and have my microwave timed so the handle of the container faces me when it dings and my temp is exact.

And the flavor! These things are pretty much a more efficient french press, so this process combined with fresh ground beans and filtered water produces such excellent flavor with zero tannin notes.

So yum. Highly recommended.

Cheers!
