Use an analogy: a person recording police activity can do so in a publicly aggressive manner using the camera a kind of civil weapon, or completely opposite, the camera can be used in as surreptitious manner possible with a kind of lateral periscope (imagine the camera that recorded the original Rodney King beating being used as a civil defiance statement and involving the recordist in the conflict itself).
By the same token, the use of Pretty Good Privacy for secretive peer-to-peer communications (it could get you killed by the U.S. military as in anti-Islamist operations if the secretiveness were detected), is completely opposite the use of social media as a personal propaganda platform to leverage its ability to speak to as many people as possible.
The EU (eeuuwww!) cannot use such AI censorship to go after private citizens engaging in secretive information communications—you could use a legal pad away from any phones, outdoors away from any bugging to communicate forbidden knowledge.
Recall that Facebook arose out of a DARPA project that was closed the day Facebook opened, that the Facebook founders received government grant monies, that Facebook was conceived as a way to record everyone’s everyday interactions from a time when the technical basis for such surveillance was just beginning—Facebook was a spook operation from the birth date of social media.
Control of intimate musings such as 1984’s Winston Smith jotting down “Down with Big Brother!” is not yet possible, though with self-replicating graphene nano-particles in vaccines to make us data transmitters in “the internet of bodes”, that seems certainly to be the end-goal.
