Joe Biden continues to climb the ladder to oblivion.
Poll analyst Nate Silver lists the signs that a party is getting rid of a president under the 25th Amendment. He says we’re about halfway up the ladder, which has these at the starting rungs:
- Back-channel conversations - Anon leaks to press - Influential non-electeds and donors saying he should resign - Backbench elected officials saying he should resign - Signals from senior party leaders saying he should resign with plausible deniability - Megadonors saying he should resign and withholding funds - Normie senators or representatives saying he should resign
I’m seeing all this right now, not yet as a march to the 25thAmendment removal from office, but certainly in an effort to get him to withdraw from the 2024 race. The latest such sign is reports that the White House visitor logs show that President Biden’s doctor Kevin O’Connor met with a Parkinson’s disease specialist and a nurse who coordinates Biden’s care nine times since July 2023. (Now, I don’t think it a leap to suggest that sources just whispered to people like Alex Berenson and Jonathan Levine what to look for. Maybe they didn’t. Maybe someone wanted to take hours to pore through the logs, but maybe not.)
There’s plenty of information supporting Silver’s view that we’re halfway up the ladder, and over at the Wall Street Journal, Kim Strassel lists a lot of it.
Here’s a summary:
Texas Rep. Lloyd Doggett on Tuesday became the first elected Congressional Democrat to “respectfully” call on Mr. Biden to withdraw from the race. Maine Democratic Rep. Jared Golden, fighting one of the tightest House races in the country, did the functional equivalent with an op-ed that explained it didn’t matter what Mr. Biden did after his “poor performance”

“I have no doubt that Biden would fail it. But so wouldn’t most other geriatric candidates from both parties.”
Excellent point.
We could be talking about half of the US Senate here.

“His damn doctor should step up”
He is in it up to his neck. Gave Sleepy Joe a clean bill of health 5 months ago. Yet met at the White House with a Parkinson doctor multiple times going back 12 months ago.
A dozen? I've never heard of anyone I know even remotely taking such a test. Why so many in your family?
Not snark; I'm genuinely curious.
But isn't the conversation to divert one of asking questions that you need to answer so that you can't just repeatedly make mental crib notes?
“And Joe thinks he is the first black woman president.”

I think that it is at least a little bit debatable whether he said that or not - but that’s not even what matters at this point - his words are so incoherent that (at best) you have to very carefully parse them to understand what he MIGHT have meant. In anyone, this would be cause for very great concern. But in a President, one of whose chief functions is to COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY, it is alarming, as it is strong evidence of a complete collapse of higher mental functions.
As a partisan participant in our political system, I hope that he stays on the ticket, as Trump will handily defeat him. But as a citizen worried about the literal safety of my nation, I know that he needs to be removed from OFFICE, last week. Frankly, if the Dems actually gave a rat’s ass about this nation, they’d have never run him - but we all know this isn’t the case, with this whole mess - and cover-up - being only more evidence of their disdain for our nation (and I am being very charitable here). The biggest problem with removing him from office is the replacement - Heels Up is as stupid and cranky as Joe, but without the excuse of senility.
Our nation is really and truly f’ed, mainly because of the lust for power by the Dems, and the lack of courage by so-called Republicans in confronting both Biden’s obvious in 2020 mental infirmities and The Steal. Let’s pray, and work hard, to make sure that this country moves in the opposite direction starting on 1/20/2025.
I ended up being the primary caregiver for six octogenarians. 4 of them had dementia, in varying degrees. This was from 2009 through 2019. 2021 if you count the time my MIL was in a skilled nursing facility.
The cognitive assessment “should” be done at 70, just to get a baseline. Then every year after that. Since I was taking them to appointments, I got to sit through them.
My mom progressed fairly quickly. I sat through at least five with her over 4 years. As she moved through the system, everyone wanted to do their own.
One tip—the picture isn’t a camel; it’s a dromedary. If you say that, it will get a laugh out of the doc.
I was so tired, taking care of these people and their issues…that one time one of the 85 year olds got a higher score than me.
They are not “stressful”, but if you cannot write a clock face it really kicks up the anxiety.
Look up Montreal Cognitive Assessment Tool. I guess as I get older…i should pull it out and practice.
If he takes the cognitive test and fails, the VP and the cabinet must remove him a la the 25th, incapacitated.
Kudos. Quite a journey.
would you get in a car with joe behind the wheel?
have we seen that poll?
refusing to take the test is the same as failing the test
that also told us who is in charge
