I don’t drink, but the Bible says a little wine for the stomach, so I have to disagree that one glass of wine per day is unhealthy. I attend a church that teaches that no alcohol should be consumed. I only feel that way about people who cannot stop after one drink. There are people who should never drink.

In the past (and probably certain places still today), it was safer to drink an alcoholic drink than the water.
So, they just ignore that Christ Himself turned water into wine at the Wedding at Cana.
