Eastern? Do you mean Middle Eastern, Mediterranean through to Iran?

I should have put that on the list, a nice pilaf, lamb, etc. is always good!

“Nonsense. French food is far superior to Chinese - I am talking mainland China authentic cuisine.”

pffft... you forget about savory Pangolin.

No Britain on the list :)

I had a full English breakfast and there were baked beans, and I gagged, baked beans are for dinner, anyway I hate baked beans.

“It is astonishing how GOOD Italian is in Italy.”

I have to believe you. My cousin has been a minister in Italy since 1973, and when they visit, his wife is careful to point out how awful Italian food is in America. (And she isn’t kind about it.)

Nothing in the British Empire on that list because the food there suks big time.

True story: my middle son played U-18 soccer well enough to make a trip to Great Britain for an international tournament. The boys were there for four days and had a great time except for the food. To a man the entire team gritched about how bad the vittles were - tasteless, greasy, etc. When they landed in ATL on the return trip they all hit the first McDonalds, Wendy’s, and Chick-Fil-A they found in the airport. When my son arrived home he asked if we could go to Alamo Cafe (Tex-Mex) for the evening meal.

India ahead of Greece? Right. As for American, the idea that the hamburger is the iconic, unique native food vs. bbq simply underscores that this article is from CNN— a place where employees wake up in the morning, take a dump and find they’ve lost half of their brain fluid.

Why is ours last when one can get all the others here? In California they married them all with beautiful vegetables and world class wine.

I was thinking Far East, with France, Greece and Spain also covering the Mediterranean. I could see Iran or Turkey on there, though Greece, especially, would make that redundant.

The only decent meal in the U.K. is fish n chips.

Italy has many GREAT regional cuisines, but not a true national cuisine. The French come closer, thanks to the codification of their cuisine by Auguste Escoffier and the contributions of two later very influential chefs, Eugénie Brazier and Paul Bocuse.
