A Delta Airlines flight was diverted to New York City after passengers and crew, including both pilots, were served moldy chicken, a traveler has revealed.
Nancy Kirchoff, 65, was on the Amsterdam bound flight with her husband when it made an emergency landing at JFK Airport in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The pilot announced they were turning around because there was 'some type of food issue and people were sick', Kirchoff told DailyMail.com.
'They said they saw some mold on the chicken,' she added. 'I asked if anyone had gotten sick and they told us no one had been affected, but the pilots both ate the chicken.'
Medics met the plane after it landed at JFK and aid was provided to 14 passengers and 10 flight crew, all of whom declined to receive medical attention.
The A330 plane, which had 277 customers on board, departed from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport just before 11pm Tuesday.
The flight crew decided to divert to NYC after it was discovered that a portion of the in-flight meal service had been spoiled, a Delta spokesperson told DailyMail.com.
'We were probably halfway to Amsterdam, around Nova Scotia and starting to cross ocean when the pilot came on and said there was some type of food issue,' Kirchoff recalled.
She said that the flight attendants then 'came around to each row and asked if everyone was feeling good or sick.'
That's when she asked the crew about the food issue and was allegedly told that mold was discovered on the chicken. She also claims the flight attendants disclosed that both pilots had eaten the meal.

Some ordered the special meal, Chicken with mold, non Gmo
Hey, they should make a movie about this.
Unacceptable.
They need to change catering cos asap.
Someone knew what was happening - be it an expiration date or food that was left out and then refrozen/refrigerated.
People could have died from food poisoning.
🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮
Exactly - especially the pilots. What were they thinking? I'd be eating MREs and drinking bottled water.
These airlines have government/globalist diktats to hire Didn't Earn It (DEI) firms for the food service.
No such rule.
DTW-AMS three pilots.
No way in hell would flight attendants tell a passenger about the pilot meals.
how does that happen.
They rotate through supplies everyday
Just because they serve you moldy chicken, that doesn’t mean you have to eat it.
Ugh flying Delta in 9 days…just get me to Honolulu alive and healthy ugh
That's not what the headline says. Maybe the headline writer needs to read the story.
Beat me to it.
That's a relief! I've been gorging on gorgonzola and stuffing myself with stilton for literally years!
Regards,
I thought there was a policy that both pilots not at the same meal.
Just like how we know the perp is black when the headline doesn't specify.
Big Media tries to manipulate your mind.
All the time.
Don't let them.
Who, or what, do you suppose might want Boeing's reputation for high quality to be damaged or destroyed? Do you think that perhaps such entities might have some ability to influence or use Big Media in support of their agenda?
Airbus stands to gain the most from trashing Boeing, Airbus is an international consortium of many countries that fully subsidize their operation. Many of the negative stories, that always manage to get Boeing in the headlines, originate in British tabloid papers.
That’s one reasonable answer.
There may be others.
For example, Red China is trying to break into the airliner business. Wrecking the good reputation of an established manufacturer certainly wouldn’t hurt them.
