I prefer to get my nicotine from a pipeful of burley or a Latakia blend. I don’t smoke it as an image thing. It’s just something I like. If it does give me an image, it would be that of an old coot, but I am okay with that.

My dad chewed Copenhagen all his life until he had a stroke (not likely caused by the nicotine in my opinion) but his doctor told him to stop anyway and he did. My uncle smoked a pipe and I’m certain he was not in it for the ‘image’ because he smoked heavily and I remember seeing his many empty tobacco cans of Prince Albert. I can remember him digging out the tar at the bottom of the bowl with his jackknife when he no longer could get smoke through his pipe. He wound up with a pre-cancerous lesion on his lower lip in later years. I don’t know if this was from the sun’s rays or his pipe stem. Yes, nicotine is addictive, but what else it does to the body is constantly being debated.
