Homeowners' rights have limitations when it comes to nature - groundwater, rainwater, wildlife, trees, etc. Without knowing the local laws, we could speculate for years.

The article is so poorly written.

The picture of the exposed tree roots that grew in a square (likely from a cast iron fence) is pretty funny.

OK, so this tree is clearly on the property line and therefore the roots encroach into (under) the neighbors property. I'm sorry the tree is going to die, but I side with the neighbors.

Indeed. Either property rights mean something, or they don't.

I’m waiting to see how much Joe and Jill get paid to stand down. Then I’ll set my rate.

I should be a bargain because I will at least not require asylum for a criminal degenerate son or immunity for my own crimes ....

So I suppose that I should raise my upfront cash payment. I need an agent.

Hadn’t thought of this before, but yeah, I’d assume that if a neighbor wanted to do something on their property that impacted your tree’s roots growing on that property—it’d be tough noogies for you.

#5 That looks like an old neighborhood. Look at the gray cement-asbestos? siding on the house on the right. I lived in a duplex with that siding. It was built in 1908.

The new building also destroys the view the neighbor had.
