Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) said Wednesday he would be disappointed if the presumptive GOP nominee doesn't select him as his running mate.
Why it matters: Vance reportedly teeters between the top two spots on former President Trump's VP shortlist and has been intensely lobbying donors for the former commander in chief's re-election campaign.
What they're saying: "I'm human, right?" Vance said in an interview that Fox News aired Wednesday. "And so, when you know this thing is a possibility, if it doesn't happen, there is certainly going to be a little bit of disappointment."

That’d be a good question as I don’t think he’s explicitly said Harris though all of the signs going out have both names on them.
The headline here is misleading and exaggerated by far. Made to make JD look bad. When you read what he actually said, it is not like the headline. Of course anyone who wants the slot would be a little disappointed.
I see some fell for it.
I am certain any candidate under consideration for VP feels the same way. If not, they probably would have withdrawn their name by now.
Trump should choose a Governor. Hope his VP is not from the House or Senate.
Republicans cannot afford to lose anyone in Congress, so he should skip them entirely.
if he was not disappointed, then he never should have been on the shortlist.
Are you going to go on CNN and bash President Trump when you don't get the VP slot?
All Vance said is that, being human, anytime you're so close to being on a presidential ticket, if you don't get it it's natural to be a little disappointed. I'm sure everyone else on the short list who doesn't get the nod will be a little disappointed as well.
Some people are reacting like he said, "Well I better get the VP slot or I'm really gonna be disappointed!" LOL
Proof he should stay in congress and maybe get some of those passed.
Sounds like he’s planning on being butt hurt if not picked!
“Reaching 100 percent renewable energy as quickly as possible is required to save our planet from the worst effects of climate change.”
“100 percent”
She’s an extremist nut case, 90 percent would not satisfy her.
“Base load affected facilities that follow the CCS pathway must meet a second phase standard based on 90% capture of CO2, using CCS, by 2035”
“Baseload affected facilities that follow the low-GHG hydrogen pathway must meet a second phase standard based on co-firing 30% low-GHG hydrogen by volume by 2032 and a third phase standard based on cofiring 96% by volume low-GHG hydrogen by 2038”
“must”
Imagine what your future electric bills are going to look like, unless the Republicans gain back the Senate and the White House.
“Sounds like he’s planning on being butt hurt if not picked!”
And then he can drag all the old audio and video clips of himself trash-talking Trump. He won’t even have to invent new material.
“Both have been very loyal, aligned, and supportive of Trump”
Didn’t Tulsi vote for Bernie Sanders?
Vance and Trump had better hope the GOP wins a majority in the Senate if he is going to take Vance out of the Senate to be his VP.
I think the headline made it sound worse than what Vance actually said. And I actually think he’s probably the best of the supposed top 5 or so candidates we’re hearing about, mainly because he’s a veteran and probably the best choice of them for 2028.
But there were persistent rumors (here and elsewhere) that he had turned Trump down on the VP offer, months ago. That’s what makes this statement the most interesting to me.
Thanks for clarifying that. It makes sense and I understand.
If all the media is pushing him on Trump then he is a shill RandFan and Trump should steer clear. Besides, who wants a self professed crybaby as VP? This right here tells what his character is really like. He is already throwing a temper tantrum before anyone is even picked. Even if I liked him before this right here would make me drop support. Sounds like an AOC tantrum.
(Didn’t know his wife was Hindu. Not that it matter.)
That’s a huge problem! It does matter!
I would.
I would mind a great deal.
