It’s funny. I live in an old-time D region. There are all sorts of signs for local offices. But rarely a sign for a state or national office.

I have nothing against political signs. But I don’t put one out because I don’t think they change anyone’s mind. Instead I have this sign out, all year long.

Folks can make of it what they will.

I see those along the St. Lucie River, near my home. I smile every time I pass one in the boat.

And at this time, Maine is getting ready to change over the default license plates to a pine tree flag design (from the chickadee that’s been on the plates for 25 years).

Now there’s also a contest for a new flag design, focused on the same pine tree flag theme, deadline July 19th.

I look past what the left might be plotting, to simply what is happening.

While the pine tree flag does not say “an appeal to heaven”, that’s the unstated root of the Pine Tree Flag.

Maine is the state where the sun rises first on America.

There are several for signs in all of this, related to the light.

I keep a list for what’s going on up that way.
