That’s a favorite trick of the zeepers and they think they’re being clever when they do it.
They’ll post a part of what you said, changing the meaning, and respond to you as if it’s what you posted, or they’ll attribute someone else’s comment to you and respond to it as if you said it (as the OP has done here.)
