Just for the uninformed, (1) should all handguns utilized on “Juneteenth” be stolen and held sideways in order to “keep it real” and (2) is it considered poor form to show up for the party before 3:15 a.m.?
Until recently, nobody outside of Texas ever heard of it. The tradition is that blacks get together on June 19th and kill each other.

Last year on a sports board someone asked what was the best thing to cook on this holiday. I suggested that due to it’s origin, Tex-Mex.
Happy 3rd place holiday which owes it’s existence to the Emancipation Proclamation. But both would be toothless without the Thirteenth Amendment.

I do not think there is any comparison. A lot of us have had a boss that would have had their workers finish one more harvest before letting them know were were no longer obligated/can now be paid. I have no problem celebrating the end of chattel slavery in the USA.

Republicans freed the last slaves that Democrats were holding on June 19th.
So glad that black Americans are celebrating what Republicans did.

My daughter, who was born on June 19, is grateful that she can now party hearty on her day without having to take a personal day. She works remotely, so her first order of business is to sleep in.
