I'm old enough to remember when our leaders feared nuclear war and tried to avoid any potential for one.

“”””I’m old enough to remember when our leaders feared nuclear war and tried to avoid any potential for one.””””

I also remember when we did that by bristling with nuclear weapons and maintaining over 3 million Americans in the military and conducting massive Reforgers, and fighting Russians and Chinese in Korea and Vietnam.

A weak NATO invites trouble, it doesn’t avoid it, NATO is right to be looking at military preparedness and spending more.

Jimmy Carter put us in a situation where we were anticipating WWIII in 1984, Reagan cut loose and closed that window with a lot of military energy and spending.

I’m old enough to remember when our “leaders” thought we could win WWIII and planned to do so. Then the Cuban Missile Crisis occurred. After being so close to Armageddon, “winning” WWIII became the subject of dark comedies. Now we are back to 1960 with a war room being led by a bunch of Buck Turgidsons.
