Personally, I think that Obama took him by the wrist and led him off to embarrass him. Not that he didn’t need to be assisted, but that Obama, to keep up appearances, should have put his arm around his back, in a collegiate sort of way, and walked him off the stage.

The photo on the right is what most Democrats will take away from the event, and they aren't going to think the one on the left is that terrible.

as someone who was sole caregiver to a dementia patient the second picture also is damning..

Biden never speaks or looks at Obama all the way out. It is Obama who looks, smiles and speaks to Biden all the way out as if to say everything is going to be ok just hold my hand and follow my lead..

This is exactly what you do with a dementia patient to relax and reassure them as you try to get them where they need to go..
