Perhaps worse than projection; projection is a defense mechanism arising unbidden in the subconscious mind, i.e.:
“Projection is a defense mechanism in which an individual recognizes their unacceptable traits or impulses in someone else to avoid recognizing those traits or impulses in themselves subconsciously.”
Whereas deliberately accusing your enemy of what you are doing yourself is a weapon of propaganda to confuse people developed by Goebbels (Hitler’s chief propagandist) “...accuse the other side of that which you are guilty.”
The most basic example is that leftists accuse us of “hate” when it is they who are filled with hatred for others.
