Wow - I’ve been avoiding spinal fusion surgery for 15+ years now due to how risky it is. Hard to imagine perfectly healthy people undergoing that procedure for a payoff (the crooked lawyers and surgeons I can sort of understand but the patient risking their health and future mobility as well as a lot of painful rehab is hard to wrap my mind around).
My wife had spinal fusion surgery two months ago, along with opening up some nerve channels. Just started physical therapy last week. It was a tough decision for her to get the surgery, but the alternative of continuing deterioration and eventually being completely unable to walk was worse. Surgery is not a quick miracle cure by any means; she has a long painful process ahead of her.
I cannot imagine anyone undergoing such surgery for the sake of a financial scam, no matter what the immediate payoff.
With 24 vertebrae, the ‘victim’ can go back over and over.
1.5 mil times, say 23 joints, is decent spending money.
