Old thread I know, but see my comment immediately preceeding this one.
Here is the direct link to his software-
https://christitus.com/windows-tool/
I ran it on a new install where my cpu was being overworked, and the processes were around 140 or soz- after using it the processes usage steess got down to 70 (of course they will go back up as time wears on, but that was a pretty good reduction I thought)
Thanks so much for the tip... I have used Chris Titus software previously, but had forgotten about it. I appriciate the link and reminder very much!
The laptop that I use most often is several years old and is about ready for a clean install... It is taking a long time to boot up. I purchased a gaming laptop to run Flight Simulators, and video editing software, but it weighs far more and does not have a touch screen which I often find useful.
The older computer supposedly is not capable of running Windows 11, but I have a portable WIN 11 installation on an NVME drive in an external enclosure which boots up much faster than Win 10 on the internal NVME. The question is whether I should stick with Windows 10 or put Windows 11 on it. I will probably buy a larger NVME so that I can start fresh but have the ability to swap the other back into the laptop if needed.
