If the 737 was de-pressurizing at 30+ thousand feet AGL they HAD TO GET DOWN to around 8,000 feet to avoid losing people. I can see spiraling as opposed to just diving to avoid a hard pull-out. If the crew had a suspicion as to why the de-pressurize that might have affected/proscribed the pattern to get down.
Since it’s Boingboing one has to be suspicious that they might have lost another important part, like, oh, say, a window or door? There was just another incident where a Boing developed a windshield crack at 40K, didn’t lose pressure but had to get down for safety.
I’m of the mind this isn’t just DEO related stuff. The Boeing brass no longer have engineering backgrounds; they are finance experts. Secondly, and most important, is these are vaccidents. It’s only a matter of time before the right person forgets the wrong thing and lots of people die.
