If “Constitutional eligibility” is still to be strictly interpreted as it was laid out in Vattel’s Law of Nations, my “preferred pick” wouldn’t be technically eligible. However, with Obama, Heels-Up, Nimrata H., and (I think) Vivek R., and possibly McStain all failing the “eligibility test”, who knows? We’ll see what we’ll see, I guess.

A case needs to go to SCOTUS to determine once and for all what a Natural Born Citizen is. In my mind, it was determined by FReepers digging deep - jus solis and jus sanguinus - born on the soil to parents who are citizens. But legally it needs to be made clear.

I don't think so, but given how many non-eligibles have been allowed to occupy the #1 and #2 positions, it pretty much no longer matters.
The Supremes could (and should) issue a judicial Opinion clearly defining, once and for all, EXACTLY what "natural born citizen" means. The country can no longer go on "common knowledge" and "the way it's always been done". And, in my personal view, the longer the Supremes kick the can down the road, the worse shape we're going to be in as a nation.

If they got rid of SWOS Basic, they probably got rid of SWOS Advanced. I think this will prove to be a serious mistake. When I got to my first ship I was much better prepared to function because I had been through SWOS and main propulsion school.
That means I was only a mostly clueless Ensign instead of a totally clueless Ensign.
