I had a 32 year old AC unit that finally showed signs of being on its last legs, so I replaced it with a new Carrier unit. The installation guy told me I won’t get 30 years out of the new one.
Same when my 25 year old Kenmore / Frigidaire range went bad a few years ago - I was told I won’t get 25 years out of the new GE that they installed.
Still running Whirlpool washer & dryer that are about 25 years old each - have done numerous repairs on the washer, but the dryer has not even needed belt replacement. I intend to keep them running as long as possible, as the new ones are crap (so I have bene told by numerous people that have new ones, especially those that bought front load washers).
I wish I had been rich enough and had the foresight to buy new machines back in the 60s and 70s to have on hand to replace broken worn out machines. (And had been smart enough to invest in bitcoin back in the day when it was so low lol)
