Peanut butter too. I had a brand new, unopened jar confiscated. They said it shows up as explosives in the scan.

I used to attend many computer related conferences many years ago and I grew to hate lugging the luggage and getting the luggage at the baggage claim and lugging the luggage to the hotel, and lugging the luggage from the hotel, and at the end waiting for the luggage at the airport when i got home. I began to use UPS instead, and not even with a suitcase, just a box.

I realized why not?, when most every computer conference had a set up for sending back to the office all the material collected at the conference in a box with a Fedex label. I thought, why not do the same with the bulk of my clothing. Even if I needed one suit on the trip, that with a good dress shirt, tie, good belt and dress shoes I could carry on in a suit bag, and have a knapsack for a few clothing items and toiletries. The rest - in the box.

I’ve only had my bag searched once. In uniform, on my return flight (went to Camp Atterbury for two weeks to help with gear returning from deployment), the security decided that a deck of cards, some hdmi/ethernet cables, and a box of AAs was extremely suspicious. On my return flight.

From a global traveler - stickers on the hard case, sew in patches for the soft cases. Also recommend an airtag like device INSIDE the bag.

Back in the days, 1995 until 2001, when we traveled back and forth to L.V. frequently, we always shipped our luggage via FedEx, a few days before traveling out there...

It was always sitting there at the casino waiting for us...
When returning, the casino would arrange the FedEx shipment...

The only time we did differently, with our luggage was September 14, 2001, when we packed the luggage into the rental car we drove home back across the U.S.

We have never flown anywhere since...

If the ribbon obscures the barcode, it has to be scanned by hand. I use yellow electrical tape around the ends of the handle where they attach to the bag. No danglers, therefore no problem.

Excellent idea.

Sewn in a hidden corner, preferably, so it cannot be perceived or easily removed.................
