So now everyone simply accepts that your personal items in your luggage on airlines are in danger of being searched and stolen, and everyone is like “Meh. whatever. To reduce the chance, don’t do this or that.”
Just another marker on the slow, steady decline of America and our expectations for it.
When I still was willing to fly, I overnighted my luggage.
All these rules and regulations now - having to remove your shoes, getting scanned and often patted down, waiting in long lines, having airline employees rifle through your personal belongings - has made air travel a miserable experience - not to mention the planes themselves, usually dirty, overcrowded and with little breathing room in the small seats.
Back in 2000, I was in the airport in Berlin Germany awaiting my flight back to Atlanta, having been on a job for the German government for several weeks.
I’m walking around the airport, just killing time, it’s a huge circle shaped building, when I heard MY NAME called out on the public address system to report to room such and such.
I did as instructed and was met at the door by a uniformed policeman who had my toolkit on the desk.
He asked if that was my luggage and of course I replied yes.
He said that the baggage scanner had detected a flammable substance inside.
I immediately knew that it was a small bottle of alcohol that I use to clean electronic contacts and soldered joints and told him so.
I opened the locked toolkit and sure enough the properly labelled bottle had leaked, and he removed it and I was good to go...................
By old sticker, I believe he is referring to the sticker tags from a previous flight, the one they place around the handle when checking in and the small one they place on the side before loading on the plane. They both have bar codes.

Good to know, though I never have, and seriously doubt I ever will, go anywhere with marzipan (that stuff is foul!).
The aforementioned baggage scanner would reject the bag.................
I like marzipan and bought two bars while in Germany last trip in 2000. Was called out to security for a leaking small bottle of alcohol.............

My daughter and her friend recently road the Greyhound to the Bay Area - around five hours - they said the recently renovated buses were very clean, had comfortable seats, plenty of seat room, and great internet service.
Bus dropped them off right at the BART station.
Lol! Hey, he was a top official in the democrat administration. He has money.
Well, It looks like if time is not a factor, Greyhound might be a better choice...............
Yeah, it’s a matter of taste. Obviously, very subjective.

Ah, I get it.
I was questioned a couple times about the Xcelite screwdrivers but they were deeded to be ok because the bits were under than some maximum length for things that could be used for stabbing I guess. Never mind that they were designed to fit into a handle that was plainly visible. Same with Xacto knife, but a pocket knife was a no-go.
