A huge hammerhead swam between my wife and the water’s edge in Fort Lauderdale on Christmas day, 1980. I stood helplessly above them on the fishing pier. The fish just swam away. No one but those of us up on the pier could see it because of the glare.
I grew up in Lauderdale and did a lot of scuba diving by the pier.
(Anglins)
Lots of sharks.
Sand, tiger, lemon, nurse ..
Never a problem unless you were thrashing around like a wounded fish.
(Sharks have bad eyesight)
Only problem I ever had was using a speargun to shoot into a school of barracuda.
(I was a new diver and had no idea what a cuda was😁)
Had the entire school rush me.
Mad as hell swarm.
Got a couple of stinging bites before getting away!
(Lucky it wasn’t chunks of flesh🥴)
