The “ digital revolution” happened because the US government subsized electronic R&D. And it imported a vast number of foreign scientists and engineers. Silicon Valley was full of foreign born techies. And it is so today, in all fields.

Go down the list. The integrated circuit was invented in Germany and/or Britain. Go look up that history.
