The decline of our culture is, of course, in full swing. It’s depressing. The standards our nation used to have reflected biblical values. We will disagree but it should be with reason and respect. Speak the truth in love. Sometimes the truth hurst. Iron sharpens iron. We’ve come a long ways from Gone with the Wind having to pay a fine to anything and everything goes in the name of “art.” Freedom today means freedom from all restrictions on the almighty self.
The last spiritual move of God in the US was the Jesus People, flower power era - and it was not like previous move of God in our nation. In one of the revivals back at the beginning of the 20th century, the city of Chicago shut down all businesses at noon so people could go pray in their church or synagog - the impact of the revival being so strong. Can you ever imagine that happening again? The Church in America has lost its voice and is so compromised no one need listen to it.
I think a lot of the problems at FR developed back during the H. Clinton vs D. Trump election. It never recovered after that. Many people threw in the towel and have never come back. My personal view is that there were problems on both sides - posters and moderators. Trump was God and you could not say anything against him.
I use to love to read the comments before all that as they were intelligent, informative and usually very funny. I still read and am still thankful that this site exists - but I do miss the old days.
There are lots of words to express yourself in the English language. Profanity should be rare. Unfortunately, we seem to have lost our shared belief in a holy God that we will all stand before one day. That fear and respect for him has all but disappeared. As a result, there is not the restraint on our actions as in former days. It shows up here on FR and most likely elsewhere. May we individually return to him and seek to honor him in all we do, say and write.
My kids are incredulous when I tell them that the Billy Graham Crusades were on prime time on network TV.
