Many freepers posting on the Ukraine threads are not anti-Ukraine or pro-Russia. We’re against the war and want it to stop. We especially don’t want to see billions of our tax dollars going to a country over 5000 miles away that was labeled the most corrupt country in the world a mere 5 yrs ago.
Fwiw, I see defending one’s home, nation, history, people, language, freedom and way of life against a foreign invader as being far from senseless. This is about as noble a fight as one can have, to fight for and if necessary to give one’s life for friends, family, neighbors and strangers, alike.
Giving aid to those in that fight, especially in their fight against the Russians, who have been against us in almost every conflict we’ve had since the Second World War, seems like the most moral thing for us to do.
Better to be a Good Samaritan than to judge whether someone is worthy of our help or not or to look the other way when being asked for help, which seems less than honorable given our Christian heritage, our great God given wealth and our status in the world.
I believe if your neighbors were being robbed, you’d probably intervene in some way to help them even if you didn’t like them, right? Or have I misjudged you?
The bottom line is, there would be no war if Putin didn’t keep bringing one to his neighbors and this war would “end” if he goes back home.
It’s his war. His casualties. And his eternal consequences, too, unless he repents and starts loving his neighbors instead of trying to kill and subjugate them.
