Would be cool if a stretchy tile or coating could be created so that when the flaps move, the 'tile' coating surrounding the base of the flaps stretches out then back so there's absolutely no gaps around the flap structure.

Seriously ... a flexible heat resistant material would be awesome. Just not clear on how to make such a thing.
