We have thousands and thousands of acres of solar farms in our state making free electricity from the sun.

Here we see electric rates going down, down, down . . . as it should because solar electricity is free electricity.

Sometime later this year we expect the power company to start paying consumers to use the surplus electricity; either that or they will have to pour it out on the ground.

In general, there is little more expensive than “free”.

Please tell me how they recover the price of those ridiculously expensive solar panels over, what I assume, is a 7 year depreciation schedule, which only work half the day at best?

Bet you a solar panel farm costs as much, if not more, then an equivalent kw coal or nat. Gas plant.

Solar is free... Plus the cost of fabrication, installation, copper wiring, transformers, distribution, step down, panel maintenance, and all the admin/support/overhead. Plus surplus power for usage spikes, nighttime, etc. That's where they get ya!
