Yeah - you gotta’ be careful as you have no idea where the second guy is relative to you.
In an adjacent county this happened a few years ago. The person whose vehicle was being worked on had that kit that has the cables hanging somewhat loosely around the cat so cutting takes much longer. Stupid as they were the thief kept working. The person called his neighbor and his neighbor ran over to a vehicle that was just down the road a bit and spiked the sidewalls on two tires.
By the time the thief gave up and he and the “trailer” ran back to their truck, they realized two tires were flat - and still drove off. Two deputies stopped them and found multiple cats in the pickup bed, sawzalls with power packs, handgun, etc.
