To add to your point that Abraham knew his son would survive or be resurrected, this is verse 5 from that chapter ...

And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you. -- Genesis 22:5 (KJV)

Abraham indicates that both he and his son would return from the mountaintop.

By the way, this took place atop Mount Moriah, the same mountaintop where years later, David purchased the threshing floor and where his son, Solomon built the Temple.
