A Texas 18-year-old with autism faces permanent blindness after a supposed friend allegedly threw powdered drain cleaner into his eyes.
Branden Jolly, 17, had his first court date with a judge on Friday, where he had bond set at $300,000.
Brody Morgan, who has autism, was walking through his neighborhood in Friendswood when Jolly threw what turned out to be a drain de-clogger.
Morgan's mother Amy said her son returned to their home screaming, initially believing it to just be salt in the boy's eyes.
However, as she tried to wash his eyes with water, it only got worse, with Amy Morgan claiming it looked as if her son had two black eyes.
'It looked like they were bruised, black,' she told ABC 13.
Brody Morgan alleges that one of the teenagers had stolen a package from the house down the street.
Jolly chose to open the stolen box, which contained a tube with a powder the boys didn't recognize.
According to court documents, Jolly initially spilled the chemicals on Brody Morgan's shirt.
Brody then tried to push Jolly away from him, which police claim led to Jolly throwing the powder back in his face.
Doctors were eventually able to determine that Jolly had thrown powdered drain cleaner at Morgan.

If I read this correctly,one of the two boys stole a package from a neighbors house. As unwrapping it some spilled on shirt. He threw it towards the kids face hitting him in his eyes. It sounds from the reading that they were not aware of what they had or its danger. Kid is responsible for his actions but don’t think it was maliciously.(I did only read the posted portion of article)

Yea I just finished watching the video on the link. Seems that is what happened. Sounds like kids today are stupid. They stole a packet of stuff that they did not know what it was and then tossed it around on each other.
I will assume the packet did not have warning labels on it? Most do. I guess kids to day can’t read.
On 4th of July years ago, one of the guys had an M80, and put it under a tin can. We were all really far away from it but when that tin can exploded into a million pieces of tin, one of the largest pieces flew in between my friend and I.

Yea I remember m80’s back in the day. I heard stories of stuff like that happening. Kinda the reason why one now has to be 18 to buy stuff like that.
They can't read words that aren't on the list of 20,000 words they are supposed to memorize like Chinese characters.
They are taught to guess at words they don't know based on context.
Most are not taught how to use phonics to sound out words.
Many just give up when they try to read anything technical.

Stealing a packet of drain cleaner from a neighbors house?? They most likely thought it was Tide pods, and being that they were all hungry, started fighting over the food. Food gets ripped open goes in kid’s eyes. Makes sense now.
