Liberals and libertarian is not the same thing. Liberals are socialists and libertarians, as the word is defined, is to the right of conservatism.
Having said that, every political position is a continuum. One can be to the left or right of somebody else who shares your beliefs.
I pointed that out, libertarians are liberals who lean right in some areas.
Unfortunately the areas they are liberal in make the conservative parts they claim to believe in impossible.
