I could be wrong about that, or that what Scheffler communicated was incorrect, or that the reporting was wrong.

I think that you are wrong about the locations. The fatal accident happened about a quarter of a mile from where Scotty Scheffler was driving. He was much closer to the entrance to the golf club than where the shuttle bus hit the pedestrian. Of course the propaganda media wants it to seem like Scheffler was getting in the way of the investigation of a fatal accident.
In reality, it was in the dark, in the rain and in unusual traffic patterns. Many of these golf clubs are in old money neighborhoods where the streets are small, not designed for heavy traffic.
