Years ago, a outdoors magazine published a account of a Alaskan outfitter.

The outfitter was flying two clients to a remote fishing site on a river.

Loading the float plane, he asked where are their firearms for bear protection?

Clients said they did not need guns as they had bear repellent spray.

Outfitter dropped off his clients and turned the float plane into the wind to take off then turning 180 to head back to his base.

As he flew back over the drop off point, he observed both clients thrashing in the river.

He came back and landed to find out why the men were in distress.

Turns out both clients sprayed themselves with the “bear repellant” as if were mosquito spray.
