For me, it was the famous “Into Thin Air” book written by John Krakauer that really hit me how physically sucky that whole experience is.
Not my cup of tea, but I do understand why people do it. I think it is crazy, but hey...different strokes for different folks.
My orthopedist has climbed Everest, and spends at least two or three months every year climbing mountains all over the world. He enjoys it, so why not?
Also, they need to install either the world’s longest zipline or something like a construction-site debris chute for climbers to descend Everest. Save them a lot of time.
I think it is foolish possibly squandering your life that way, but let those try it who feel like they just have to. Myself I can think of better ways to spend my money if I had any.
