Most of admin I’ve worked with are so woke, spineless and self serving they would probably have criticized the teacher and not expel the student and press charges. That way they could sweep it under the rug so to say and avoid conflict.
In this case it went viral so they will be forced to do something.

My x-wife is a teacher. Years ago, a student punched her in the face. When she reported the incident to the principal the reaction was “What did you do to provoke him to punch you?”

The teacher can press charges without the consent of the school. She didn’t lose her right to call the police when she entered the school.
