If the report given by CBS is correct it was more than a misunderstanding.
“According to a police report, Scheffler was in an eastbound lane and pulled into the westbound lanes, where a uniformed detective was standing. The detective stopped Scheffler and attempted to give him instructions, but Scheffler “refused to comply and accelerated forward,” according to the report.
The detective, identified as Det. Gillis, was dragged “to the ground” and suffered “pain, swelling, and abrasions to his left wrist,” according to the report.
The detective was dressed in a high visibility reflective jacket when he stopped Scheffler’s car to give instructions, the arrest sheet said. Gillis was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
The Louisville Metro Police Department said in a statement that all lanes were closed during the traffic fatality investigation.”
High visable ubiform clothing, flashing lights, Traffic backed up for more than a mile, and he pulls into the opposite lane to enter a turn, a cop in the lane tries to stops him and makes contact with the officer then getting around the turn and approximately 30 to 40 feet down the entrance road to the club is going to be hard to explain.

Was the officer named Xander Schauffele by any chance?
(current tournament leader) ;)
Well, you are just repeating verbatim the cop’s version of the story
Witnesses there describe the incident differently.
And we now trust a report from CBS? I want to see the police body cam
CBS? Srsly?
The “official report” leaves out the policeman involved was not part of the cops assigned to help manage the visitors and golfers attending the tournament, and that Scottie was not alone, as a golfer, trying to go around the traffic bottleneck. Did the policeman not understand Scottie was one of the persons who were supposed to get access, including the bypassing of the traffic jam?
A further “report” claimed the officer reached his hand inside the diver’s side window in an attempt to open the door of Scottie’s vehicle, after which the vehicle accelerated forward, ending with the “incident” that created Scotties’s arrest.
