Google was a good search engine ten years ago, but now their search results are severely sterilized.

For contentious issues like politics, religion, and war, compare Google and Yandex results and the differences are astounding.

Anyone on FR still using Google isn’t paying attention.

I made sure no device in my purview was using Google as the default search engine after the James Damore incident in 2017. There are lots of other reasons to not be using them. And as you point out, they’d gone to poo as a search engine earlier.
