Big boozing was a major feature of late USSR.
Europeans in general drink a whole lot more that any other place on Earth. Especially in the former Warsaw Pact Countries.
Where I would stay on summer holiday over there you’d be woken up to people being loud and drunken...because the bars opened at 5 am so they could get an early start on drinking.
They say some people cannot even function until they’ve had a drink.
