Here is the actual quote from inside the article:
“I’m beyond blessed with the many talents God has given me, but it cannot be overstated that all my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school would convert to the faith, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all. Homemaker.”
So he wasn't telling women to stay in the kitchen at all. He was merely pointing out his good fortune in finding a woman who does embrace a more traditional domestic role.
I have no idea why so many women get offended at any mention of their gender role. After all, these same women have no issue sitting in the car on a cold rainy night while a man steps out to change the flat tire. If they find a big spider in the bathtub, it's usually a man who gets called upon to go flush it out. When there is a suspected prowler outside in the middle of the night, it is the man who gets out of bed to investigate and deal with the threat.
I realize not every woman wants to be a traditional housewife but it's a darn nice option to have. They should not be so quick to give that up.
I’m listening to his speech now on YouTube. Not bad.
He’s luckier than the rest of us. His job is tough but pays well doesn’t take that much time. Every other family has 2 paycheck earners. I hope this guy has 4 kids.
What a perfect description of his wife. I can say the same for mine. I asked her to marry me and before saying yes, she asked if she could stay home with the kids and be a housewife.
37 years later, kids are grown and gone and she’s a great housewife.
One of our daughters is getting married in October and I’m sure that’s her plan too.
I'm sure you recognize that the offendees are envious of women with the confidence, integrity, and charm--but not necessarily extraordinary looks--to create and maintain a marriage, a home and a family.
To have a career is much easier, less ambitious, and infinitely less permanent in its impact on humanity.
