In the early 1930s, a lot of folks were convinced that Fascism, albeit without the snappy uniforms, was the way to go.
Hitler was not a fascist. Hitler was a National Socialist.
Mussolini was the fascist.
Granted, the only real difference was that the Italians weren’t into Hitler’s nasty racial theories ... and absent the racial nonsense, Fascism, National Socialism, and Communism differ only in a few details.
