Wilmington, North Carolina is where it happened.
The Cone Mills in NC. It happened in a conflict in the projects of Greensboro, NC.
There were other similar events in E. NC, for example the burning destruction of mill owners homes in Milton,NC. The unionizers came down from Danville, VA (Burlington Gold Cup) to destroy things. Did not get much press, nationally of course.
Wilmington was a different kind of interaction, since it was a town of major Blockade runners in the Civil War, with descendants who rebuilt railroads and businesses the Union destroyed in the last days of Shermans grand circle raid up from Savannah. Point of reference for the forces of friction many years later. The first post war mills (all Yankee owned) came into NC and were powered by water on major rivers. Glencoe, for example- not a State museum park.
