I had the exact same operation at the VA. After the operation is over, they will give you a device for you to blow and suck. It is very important to prioritize this therapy. Don’t neglect it.
I had my operation in 2017. It was successful. I’m better than new.

It’s called an incentive spirometer, and you’re right: it is absolutely crucial to get rid of the remainder of anesthesia in your lungs and get you used to taking a full breath, even with a painful chest.
