There's a big difference between natural hybridization and actual unnatural genetic manipulation by scientists in labs.

Its all gene manipulation in either case. The only question is how fast or how likely it would happen in nature vs with human intervention.

If my tomato plants grew pig ears, I would worry. If they grow purple tomatoes, not so much. I do have some that do that long before this thread came along.

But natural mutations are different from inserting genes by hand into places where you have no idea what other effects it might have on the plant, or animal.
