Socialism/communism/etc. will *always* have an appeal to those that have nothing (especially while in college). When you’re young in today’s America, dirt broke, it’s difficult to see your way out of it. It seems ‘wrong’ - but you don’t have the foresight of how quickly it can all change due to the opportunity that exists here, unlike many other places. It will get better.

At 19, an immigrant from UK at 16, I was a husband & father, full-time college, almost full-time work, and there were days I couldn’t pay rent or put a meal on the table. Given, I was accountable for that situation - but it was a hard place to be. I had no idea, at that time, what was really possible here for somebody like me. Now, decades later, it’s all changed - but I get why certain concepts are appealing to young people.
