We can (and should) forgive those who have harmed us personalliy, indivudally. But we cannot, and should not, forgive those who have harmed others. That’s the others’ job. And forgiving doesn’t mean the wrongdoers should not receive just punishment.

But if I were POTUS I would be faced with the decision. I suppose that I could do like Pontius Pilate and turn the decision over to others and wash my hands of it. ...but, like Pilate, it would still be under my authority. :^(
