No matter what you decide about jobs, I would caution against taking out a big chunk. There is tax liability to consider. Also the Required minimum distribution which you may be years away from. Just thought I should mention that. We are invested with half into a mutual fund that pays dividends and capital gain twice a year. Those go into our core account and we are hoping in the future as that rises we can take what we need from there. Sounds like a tough decision and I would recommend you and your wife make it together and feel good about it.
