He never left the store ... how could it be stealing?
Well, that was the first time ever I've had my receipt checked.
She was a real old, real little black lady and the first time I had ever seen her.
I didn't make a fuss out of it but politely told her that was the first time ever. She said "really?" I said yep and walked out.
Why would I not show it to them, or even resent them asking? I know full well why they have to do it. It’s not an accusation that I’ve stolen anything, it’s done because many other people do.
The cost of shoplifting eventually affects me, anyway. The store is wise to try and protect itself.
A private business has the right to check your receipt whether it’s a ‘club’ or not.
It was simply a question. I don’t know where KrisKrinkle lives or the resources in his area.
In my area, I’ve never once had a need to go into a Walmart; if I wanted something there, I’d have it delivered; but there are lots of other places to shop here.
So--innocent until proven guilty is no longer a thing?
If he paid for it then yes it’s his but you should provide the receipt if asked when leaving.
If it's his, then no one else has any right to ask him anything about it. It's his. Not the store's.
Last time I bought a TV at Walmart, the cashier called over the loudspeaker system that the TV I bought would soon be going out the door. That seems like a pretty good system to slow down theft AND lawsuits.
I actually don’t mind showing my receipt (although the delay sometimes irks me if there is a long line); Few of the employees there know me personally, and I’d rather not pay increased prices due to shoplifters so, I don’t mind doing my part to try to cut down on it.
This is why both drugstores in easy distance of my home have closed. The store was ‘walking out the door’.
You checked out. How many times must you do that?
No, he didn't.
He does this all the time.
Walmart not liable for detaining customer who refused to show receipts, appeals court agrees
i’m talking about the walmarts around longmont ... the north main street (U.S. 287) one is the worst ...
There are all sorts of scams where people ‘check out’ but still have stolen goods, especially at self-checkout places in recent years. It’s probably a main reason businesses are starting to get rid of them.

I always just so “no thanks... I’m trying to quit” then keep on walking.
Plus I keep my receipts from every place I shop because I have a spreadsheet that I use to track my purchases and bills and I enter the various aspects of my purchases into that spreadsheet.
AH! Gotcha.
The one in Broomfield wasn’t too bad the last time I went there. Been a couple of years, though.
Bs. They need to see you steal it. I guess you also think it’s ok to have yourself searched to prove you’re innocent when ever a cop thinks you look suspicious.
Wrong. They can trespass you to keep you from coming back but that’s it. You can’t violate a person’s right on a public but private shop.
“Is Walmart the only option you have to shop?”
Not me personally, but I believe for some people it’s the best option in terms of selection, price and proximity.
LOL.
the kid’s out for a payday.
