In Texas, you can shoot dogs for threatening you or your livestock. “Livestock” also includes personal pets. Just make sure they are on your property. In many counties in Texas, you have to carry liability insurance to own what can be defined as “dangerous dogs.” Unfortunately, my county isn’t one of those. But, I’m working on it.

When I see these dogs again I am going Kristi Noem on them. I have them on my security cams. I don’t know the owners… but yeah, on your property eating cows is a death sentence around here….

That’s why we would carry a rifle in the pickup.
Any stray dog, single or pack, was fair game. Calves, cows, sheep, horses or goats had to be protected.
Our border collie didn’t mess with livestock.
At 6 yrs old, I knew where the rifles and shot guns were. And why.

My neighbor here in NE TX has instructed me to cap any coyotes I can get a clean shot at.
